IEC Statement on Tradegies of New York and Texas It is once again with the greatest regrets that we offer our prayers and condolences to the American nation. First, last week the world was saddened when a man attacked pedestrians in New York City by running them over with a truck, killing eight and wounding many others. Less than a week later, the world was shocked again by an action of terrible evil when another man attacked a small church in Sutherland Springs, Texas and opened fire on innocent people as they worshiped. Authorities have confirmed that 26 people were killed, ranging from a five-year-old child to a 72 year-old man, and an additional 20 more individuals were wounded. The Islamic Education Center condemns acts of violence and assaults against any religion, and in the strongest terms condemns these barbaric massacres of innocent and defenseless people. We offer our prayers for the families of the victims that God may give them comfort and peace, and we wish speedy recovery to those who were wounded in this heinous act of violence. We hope that the voices of so many innocent people around the world united with the victims of violence and terror empower the conscience of peace-loving people, governments and international organizations across the world to unite and move against acts of any type of violence, regardless of political and religious differences. |
